I am fascinated by the power and sway of symbols, be they iconic or instructional, for a symbol's power is measured not by its own strength, but by the investment we make in it.

Hence, I deal largely in totemic imagery; laden with cultural meaning, yet open enough for the viewer to saddle with their personal message and worth. We make of it what we will.

My work speaks to aspects of Le Movement Fantastique or Fantastic Art with its constructed worlds, mythologies and folklore. It draws upon concerns similar to those found in the ecoart movement through the use of, and focus on, natural materials and a concern for my world's environments. Finally it calls to mind elements of Social Sculpture in that the big-picture-point often hopes to help the viewer reflect on their own world and the problems present within: to turn the gaze inwards on a cultural scale.

“Art is a lie that makes us realize truth.”

- Pablo Picasso
